A tale like this would make a good book…and it would be based on a true set of events of what happened about forty years ago in a place just south of Mexico. Belmopan was constructed to the east of Belize River, 80 km inland from the former capital, the port of Belize City that was destructed by a hurricane in 1961. Like many other people, I too wanted to see the city that was built as a result of a concerted effort of its people. And there were a host of Belmopan hotels that helped me tour this exciting city in an effortless manner.
There are many interesting things to see in the Belmopan area such as the Mopan river, the Blue Hole and ancient caves used by the Mayan and fortunately there are hotels in Belmopan located by these places.
