Dog Training Made Fun-Find Out How!

without comments

Dog training does not have to be an excruciating painful task, it can actually be quite enjoyable, if it is done appropriately. It is always very important for a dog owner to understand that dog training is not going to happen overnight, it will in fact take a little bit of time, which means patience is an absolute must.

With the right amount of knowledge and a really good attitude, your dog could eventually be the best and most trained dog around in your area, which could really give you something to brag about right. Everyone that owns a dog really does want their dog to be well behaved and for their dog to listen to their commands, but nobody seems to want to put in any amount of work in order to really make this happen. It is so funny, it seems that most people just expect that their dog will just automatically listen to their commands, maybe if they scream it at them or whip their behinds.

It is so important to realize that it just does not really work this way people. In order to have a well trained dog that does listen to your commands, you will absolutely have to gather up some correct information on different dog training tips that can help you throughout this process, or else it probably will not happen for you.

Instead of looking at this as a dreaded task, look at it as an opportunity for you and your dog to become closer and while this is happening both of you will begin trusting one another much more and a special bond will begin being created as well. Dog training will be a time when you and your dog will be spending a great deal of time with one another, which is always a great thing. One reason for so many different kinds of dog behavior problems is because they are lonely, nobody to play with, not getting enough attention, which is why spending time with your dog is so very important.

Let your dog know how very proud of him you are anytime that he does something worth rewarding, even if it is just something small really. The more you praise them, the more likely they will be to continue their good behavior for you. Have fun with your pooch, try throwing a ball for him and letting him go and get it and bring it back to you. Each time that he brings it back to you and lets you have it, really brag on him. This quickly turns into a new little game for you to play with one another and is really a fun way for you and your dog to pass some time.

You could be using dog training techniques on your dog and not even realize it, that is always a great thing right. You and your dog will be much happier in the end thanks to you giving him the attention that he requires and applying dog training techniques on him every single chance that you do get with him.

Outdoor Cooking with a New Weber Grill

without comments

I recently purchased a new Weber grill and I absolutely love it!  Now, I prefer charcoal over gas for outdoor cooking.  It just seems more “outdoorsy” and natural to me. So charcoal was my choice in my new grill too.

My image of Weber grills has always been their black sort of kettle shaped grills that everybody had many many years ago (before they bought their big gas grills). Actually, that is the model I was still using and I absolutely needed something new. As I did some research, I quickly learned that Weber has quite an assortment now.

The grill I choose does have the typical Weber style kettle, but so much more as well. Outdoor cooking has become an absolute pleasure. My model includes a good sized counter top or work area attached to the grill with hooks to hang utensils, a bin for the charcoal, and a wire shelf across the bottom.

The best part is the automatic charcoal starter.  All I have to do is push a button and some gas ignites the charcoal.  I relax for about 15 minutes and the coals are ready. The process is so easy and so clean.

The outdoor cooking part is much easier with this design too. The coals are held within some metal containers, so I have the choice of cooking the meat directly over the heat or off to the sides.  I have so much more control over the cooking process.

Now I can count on a predictable and delicious result everytime!

Job interviews - proven strategies that can get you results

without comments

If you are attending a job interview, one thing you must avoid doing is going in with a written script of exactly how you will answer each question. Excessive rehearsal can result in you sounding like an automaton that has been programmed with stock responses.

Instead, try the following. Think ahead and anticipate common interview questions like for example, tell me about yourself. Figure out how you are going to answer these questions without losing spontaneity. You should adopt strategies that will allow you to be versatile enough to adjust to the unforeseen twists and turns that are inevitable at job interviews.

Rule number one - DO answer the question that has been asked! Not very profound, right? The sad reality is that fat too many candidates avoid answering at least a few of the questions that are thrown at them. This is disastrous and kills their chances of getting selected for whatever position they were targeting. Make sure you pay careful attention to what is being asked and answer that. It does not matter if your answer isn’t perfect - an imperfect answer is better than none.

In addition, avoid yes / no answers as far as possible. Plan how to respond. However, avoid the pitfall of being long winded. You have to work somewhat like copywriters do. They have a limited space in which to get a powerful message across. In that situation, they need to make sure that every word counts. You should take the same approach when it comes to job interviews.

During the preparation phase for job interviews, good time management is critical, because there are many things you must plan for. In this context, try out a few useful techniques on productivity training and related areas. It will stand you in good stead. This applies whether you are a student or a no-time-to-breathe working professional.

In the end, realize that success at interviews is not about getting the wordings of your responses right. So don’t obsess over it. Specifically, do not memorize answers to individual questions. If you do, you will likely come across as artificial and lacking spontaneity, which can hurt your chances of getting that job.

What Are The Things To Do If You Have Trouble Training Your Dog

without comments

While most dogs are agreeable to learning basic rules of obedience if started at a young age, every once in a while a dog and a master just won’t be able to come together to find a successful training routine. This can be extremely frustrating for both parties involved. Fortunately, there are many outside sources that can help with this.

The most popular are “doggie daycare” or “doggie boot camps”, pet care programs very similar to child daycares. At a dog daycare, dogs are paired with trainers for an hour or two each day and taught basic dog obedience; sit, come, don’t bite the nice salesman. Once the dogs have mastered that, more advanced training is often available. The focus here is not entirely on training, however. Day cares for dogs are intended to provide a safe, happy place for a dog to go while their owner is at work, and they allow the animals plenty of play time, often complete with canine playground, as well as an in-depth grooming regimen daily; they will clip the dog’s nails, clean their ears and eyes, bathe them and trim their coats when it is needed. More in-depth grooming options may be available; however, this varies by facility.

Doggie boot camp is becoming increasingly popular as a way to deal with animals that have simply refused to be trained. A group of professional trainers will work with your dog daily, for several hours a day, teaching them to obey basic commands. Each facility’s methods of doing this are different; some use punishment based techniques, while others use rewards and positive reinforcement. This may be a boarding program, where your dog goes to a separate facility for a length of time, sleeping there, or it may be done as a day school, where the owner drops the dog off in the morning and picks them up in the afternoon. Some programs work with the owners as well; you and your dog will have a session with the trainer in which they will teach you to teach your dog to listen, and how to work together without being frustrated.

Canine boot camp can seem like a gift from the heavens, but owners should be careful. Beware of programs that claim to give you a perfectly trained animal within a matter of days; while a dog may be able to learn a trick or two in that time, it is unlikely the training will stick with them once they have returned home. Observation of their training techniques is important as well; while results are important, excessive force should not be used.

Regardless of which program you decide to use, investigate the facility and the staff carefully. Confirm the credentials of the staff, and that they have been trained to handle any emergencies that may arise while your dog is in their care. Be sure that the facility is clean, of adequate size and does not possess any features which may be hazardous to the dogs. Each dog should have its separate space, with plenty of time allotted for feeding and rest, and an isolation area should be available for any animal who becomes uncontrollable.

Information on these programs can be obtained online, through your veterinarian, and through the SPCA.

What to look for in a wooden porch swing.

without comments

Before buying a wooden porch swing, it’s important to make sure that the swing you are buying meets a number of important criteria. Here is a list of what you should look for in a swing, along with some reasons why it’s important.

Hand Made - A hand made swing is certainly a must when buying a porch swing. This is because each piece is individually crafted, ensuring better cuts and a smoother finish.

Cypress - Cypress has been called the “eternal wood” because of its ability to stand up to the elements. A cypress swing is as durable as teak, while being as little as one-tenth the price! Don’t buy a swing made from exotic woods only to watch it rot on your porch.

Size - Be sure that the porch swing you choose is the correct size to fit on your porch, and to fit the number of people you expect to be swinging on it.

Accessories - Would you like your swing to have a cup holder? An interesting question, perhaps, but certainly something to think about. What will you want with you while on your porch swing? Keep that in mind when looking at what’s available.

The Porch Swings I Love Most

Of course, I have a very strong preference in porch swings. There is one particular artisan who builds beautiful, durable porch swings from Cypress. His name is Ted Leger (pronounced Lay-shay), and he’s based in Louisiana (where a lot of cypress trees grow). All of his swings are hand made, and he can ship anywhere in the USA.

I strongly recommend you view the variety of porch swings he has available.

Physician Job Search FAQ

without comments

Q: Should I hire a lawyer to review my physician employment contract?

A: In general, yes. We are not lawyers and do not give legal advice. We have reviewed many contracts and can provide you with feedback as to what we have seen as standard. The choice of a lawyer is critical. Find someone well versed in medical contract law, as well as the state’s laws in which you will practice. Try to find an attorney recommended by someone else. Also, make sure the attorney has enough time to review the contract in a timely manner. Negotiations could be hampered by a slowed response time.

Q: If I am a resident, when should I decide upon accepting a position?

A: As a general rule, the earlier the better. The more time you have to work on license applications, hospital privileges, finding a new home and moving arrangements, the less stress you’ll encounter. Many hospitals recruit for summer positions in the fall and early winter. Don’t think all of the “good” physician jobs are taken by the end of winter. We assist physicians throughout the year because contract expirations occur throughout the year. Don’t worry. Have confidence that the right position will be available. Call us, we are here to help!

Q: Who handles negotiations, me or my recruiter?

A: Whenever possible, your recruiter should handle negotiations for physician practice opportunities. Having a liaison reduces the potential for heated arguments between two parties. Keep in mind, professional recruiters regularly perform this task.

Zero Interest Charge Card Transfers

without comments

There are definately two different kinds of credit card customers today — the credit card users who pay the balance on their credit card every month and the other credit card user who don’t pay their balance off monthly.

With the greatest number of people leaning towards not paying their credit card balance off every month, applying for a credit card with very low interest rates on a balance transfer would be a good move for most people to make.

Many credit cards have crazy annual percentage rates and before you know it, the payment you are making every month is only paying on the interest and not even knocking anything off the principle. These are the kinds of credit cards guaranteed to cause you financial problems.

With many preferred credit cards that offer low rates on balance transfers you can get out of the credit card debt you may have accumulated. The concept is to take the low interest, or maybe even zero percent interest, balance transfer card and completely pay off the card with the high interest rates, thus saving you lots of money.

Using a credit cards low interest capability can really help. It would be ideal for your credit score if you refrain from using the low interest balance transfer cards for purchases. Use the low interest card to pay off the high interest card and not for anything else. When you do it this way, you can pay your debt off and you don’t even have to worry about accumulating any future obligations. Be sure to use a different low interest rate card for your spending.

Most new credit cards have introductory rates that last around 12 months (some times not as long). For those who don’t intend on paying their credit card bill off in twelve months, it could be better to just keep switching cards. Of course, it would be best to switch cards around every six months and start hunting for a new card at least 3 weeks before your switch. Frequent switching of cards will allow you to take advantage of introductory rates all of the time. Note that it is important to read everything about the credit cards that you choose, as some have hidden fees.

In order to use the small interest on credit cards balance transfer features to your advantage, you must stay on top of your finances. Keep track of how long you have used one card and how long the introductory rate is good for. If you don’t keep track of these things, before you know it, your credit card company will tack all sorts of interest on your bill.
